Maylim has recently completed works to the Avant Garde tower Bethnal Green phase 1 for Telford Homes. The development will deliver a mixture of private and social housing for the Genisis Housing Group as well as various commercial spaces between Brick Lane and Shoreditch High Street. This initial social space within the heart of the development was valued at £320k.

Works included the development of a shared public open space and play ground built on a podium supported by the 3 tower developments at first floor level. The philosophy behind this build is to create an open green space within the heavily populated east end of London. This was achieved by using standard construction techniques of a central courtyard theme with quirky finishes & clever use of space to create something akin to telly tubby land.  By assisting with design development Maylim created a meandering resin bound footpath through the whole park area which softened the usual hard square lines sometimes associated with communal gardens. This leads through the cast in-situ concrete planters built fair faced in a random radius patterns leading to a small children’s play area. The concrete is softened through the use of extensive soft planting to create a rural parkland feel.

The mounded play area is constructed using Nottsport Safety Surfacing offering all ages the opportunity to enjoy this elevated space. Due to clever use of materials & drainage the play area can be used year long. In addition Maylim facilitated the more usual aspects of hard landscaping by paving the gardens, laying the drainage and erecting the fences to the various gardens both at podium and ground floor level. This included high quality yorkstone paving to the commercial units which can also be found on Shoreditch high street opposite the newly opened Boxpark Mall.
