As part of the regeneration project, The London Borough of Southwark aligned with British Land are in the final stages of the construction of a new library which will form the focal point of the area, embraced in a new public Plaza Space which will be enhanced by public cafes, market areas and seating areas sited alongside the Canada Water basin.
  • Maylim Limited, as main contractor has just completed the first stage of 2 phases of the construction of the public space and plaza with phase 2 programmed for January 2011.
  • The first phase of the plaza works included a logistically challenging 12 week programme around the busy Canada Water bus station incorporating the busy entrance to the Jubilee and Overground Lines which saw our management team co-ordinate a strategically phased programme including out of hours works and close co-ordination with London Buses, Tube Lines, TFL and The London Borough of Southwark.
  • Maylim Limited’s work included the full reconstruction of the public footway areas, placement of all sub strata formation with it completed, in advance of the granite paving, with a reinforced concrete slab. As part of the Plaza works design, and again with our specialist Paving Partner Miller Druck, our works included the installation of banded granite paving in a feature direction line to incorporate the future plaza features including bespoke lighting, benches, soft landscaping and associated street furniture all designed by the landscape Architect Edco.
  • Our works to phase 1 were completed with the installation of numerous cycle stands, new street furniture all incorporating the future plaza design that will embrace the New Public Library.
