East Village No.8

Located in the former Olympic village, plot No.8 has created 482 new homes in the heart of The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Overview

You may not recognise No.8 East Village from the completed photos you see here. However, what might trigger your memory, are the visuals of the Mace six-storey ‘jump factory’ that was seen rapidly rising on the skyline of The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

Maylim was delighted to be welcomed on-board as external works contractor for this innovative project – the UK’s first rising factory. Spanning across 5550m², our remit included the four rooftop gardens and the landscape surrounding the brand-new residential buildings.

We used a self-erecting tower crane to lift over 600m³ of topsoil to the roof gardens. Each one unique in design, the rooftop spaces feature raised planters formed with galvanised edgings, brick paved walkways and paths, composite decking and one housing a large bespoke timber pergola. The soft landscaping package included mature trees, box-hedging, herbaceous plants and luscious green lawns.

At ground level, the team installed Crowell Yorkstone paving edged with Portuguese granite borders and finished with vertical wall cladding. We re-installed existing granite walls and completed the supply and installation of new street lighting and soft landscaping elements.
