- As part of the proposed town centre regeneration of Maidenhead, Maylim Ltd were awarded the construction of the high street sample panel (which is still in construction during January 2010). The trial sample will be the focal point for a public communication event into the potential choice of materials that could be used with regards to street furniture and paving materials in addition to the underground and surface drainage elements.
- Working with the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and landscape Architect BDP, we have constructed this panel whilst using our expertise in choice of materials with regards to durability and aesthetics, and advice on laying methods with regards to the sub base, jointing and bedding materials.
- The hard landscaping materials chosen and laid were panels of tequila paving, Chinese granite of various colours and texture, and rough Yorkstones all laid on a sand & cement bedding with Steintec jointing.
- We had to overcome restricted access to this busy site as this was directly in the middle of a busy High Street and close co-ordination with RBW&M, and the local business was vital not only to ensure the works were carried out in a very safe manner but to ensure that the way we carried out the sample panel showed the general public and local business that the works can be carried out in a very atheistically undisruptive manner.
- The sample panel will be completed with a selection of trial sample street furniture again placed to get as much feedback from the public as possible for the future scheme.
