  • This iconic public realm project with Tower Bridge to one side and the GLA headquarters sitting directly in the centre adjacent to the Scoop sets this as one of the most prestigious public spaces in London and certainly a hard landscaping project that has set the standards for this type of project.
  • The scheme comprises of over 22,000 sqm of Irish Limestone paving, expertly laid, in a defined direction to line up with the adjacent buildings, the Rill and of course to the central tower of Tower Bridge. The public space is complemented with stone water features such as The Rill, Riverside water feature and The Water benches at the London Bridge end of the site all complemented by a very mature landscaping, and benches all constructed to align with the sizes of the paving. The amphitheatre (The Scoop) sets off the landscaping with a vast public seating area in addition to a sunken garden built between the office blocks using hedging, shrubs and decking all complemented by a superb lighting design.
  • Maylim Ltd was on this project from the start back in 2001 and has worked successfully through negotiation on all phases of the external works completing the entire substructure from waterproofing to finishes, underground drainage and infrastructure, builders works, concrete structures to all cladded walls, benches, water features, seating areas. In addition we carefully integrated with Miller Druck setting about the installation of all the aesthetically pleasing recess covers, facade and hidden slot drainage systems in the accuracy that worked with the alignment and 3mm joint lines of the paving. This project saw us take accuracy of the infrastructure and concrete to a standard that allowed this to be transferred directly in to the finished paving and cladding finishes.
  • Above all this, we with the Mace & McNicholas Plc’s teams had to overcome a logistically challenging site with restricted access to this busy site which saw at times us interfacing with 3 buildings being built at one time with 3 separate main contractors.
  • We believe that this project highlights what informal partnering, open transparency, passion to detail and quality of workmanship can create. With relationships created and built forever.
