Paddington Street Sweepers

In partnership with John Sisk & Son Ltd, we were appointed to construct the new Paddington sweeper’s depot under the A40 Paddington flyover.

Overview

The project was to meet the section 278 agreement between European Land, the Merchant Square developers and Westminster City Council and was valued at £950K. We initially completed the realignment of the gyratory at the junction of Bishops Bridge and Harrow Road to reduce the footprint of the carriageway and free up land to construct the new depot.

Alongside road construction, our remit included all associated groundworks, drainage and reinforced concrete works to buildings, all site clearance within the space under the A40 and the completion of all groundwork and drainage for the diverse buildings.

Our concrete package involved implementing foundations and pads for the external corten steel walls and associated guying systems, forming new salt bays and constructing parking areas within the building and floors to the new offices at ground level.

Inside the depot, we constructed a first floor mezzanine for offices and bin storage, two lift shafts and bays with reinforced floors. The project was completed over the course of 22 weeks.
