The International Quarter is one of London's largest new mixed-use developments.
Overview
Maylim’s remit included all underground utility work to feed into S9. The utilities previously installed in phase 1 and 2 were connected and future use ducts were installed ready for the subsequent building construction. Sub-base, concrete slab and slot drains were also installed across the public realm.
The paving scheme consists of Indian sandstone and Chinese granite; tying in with the earlier phases of the project. Buff coloured tarmac was laid to the carriageways at the front and rear of the building as well as a resin footpath, also to the rear.
Pre-cast concrete benches with timber tops are situated across the scheme. Ample seating is also provided by ‘The Outdoor Living Room’; providing a place for flexible outdoor working and socialising. This unique structure is a collaboration between YOU&ME and Cooke Fawcett Architects. Together, with landscape architects Gustafson, Porter + Bowman they have created this public realm pavilion, seamlessly immersed in the surrounding landscape scheme.
The soft landscaping package included the planting of 26 mature trees, a series of smaller trees and a diverse planting scheme of herbaceous plants, grasses, shrubs and box hedging throughout.
By night the project is lit by a bespoke lighting scheme. Our project team installed lamp columns, catenary lighting, under-bench lighting and lighting bollards throughout the public realm.
