Celebrating International Women’s Day 2026. Part 1.
Celebrating International Women’s Day:
Spotlight on Amy Flynn
For International Women’s Day, we’re proud to shine a light on the women who help shape Maylim every day. We’re proud to be celebrating Amy Flynn, our Office Administrator, whose energy, adaptability and commitment play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly.
Finding her path in construction
Like many people in the industry, Amy didn’t originally plan on a career in construction. After leaving university, she stepped into the role almost by chance but quickly discovered how rewarding and dynamic it could be.
“I’ve genuinely enjoyed every second of it. I’ve learned so much, especially about how important the office side is in keeping everything on site moving smoothly. It’s been such an amazing and insightful opportunity so early in my career.”
Her journey is a reminder that the landscape / construction industry is full of diverse career paths, many of which people don’t realise exist.
Thriving in a role that keeps the business connected
What Amy enjoys most is the variety and the people.
“I really enjoy the variety and how the role has grown over time. I started off focusing mainly on reception and general office coordination, but I’ve gradually taken on more responsibility during my time here, which I’ve really appreciated.
I also really value the culture and the people. Being in a central role means I get to work with everyone across the business, which I love. It can be busy at times, but I enjoy that. I like feeling involved and being part of what’s going on.”
Her role is the heartbeat of the office, connecting teams, supporting operations and helping ensure everything runs efficiently behind the scenes.
Encouraging more women into the industry
For Amy, visibility and support are key.
“When I was younger, construction wasn’t really presented as an option. Showing the different career paths available, not just site-based roles, but roles within the office, would help change that perception.
It’s also about making sure women feel supported once they’re in the industry. Mentorship and leadership that actively encourage development can make a big difference in helping women not just enter the industry but also stay and grow within it.
Her perspective reflects a wider industry shift: creating environments where women can not only enter the sector but build long, fulfilling careers within it.
Inspired by female leadership
Amy’s greatest role model is entrepreneur Grace Beverley, admired for her ambition, discipline and ability to build successful businesses at a young age. It’s a fitting choice for someone who brings the same drive and curiosity to her own career.
Thank you, Amy
We’re proud to celebrate Amy and all the women who contribute to Maylim’s success. Their talent and insight and leadership help shape the future of our business and the industry as a whole.
