Maylim Leads Cardinal Place Public Realm Transformation

Cardinal Place Design Proposal

Maylim is delighted to be appointed as the principal contractor for this transformative project. Cardinal Place is a retail and office development in London, close to Victoria Station and opposite Westminster Cathedral. Exciting changes for the space will soon be underway, with a new public realm set to improve the experience for residents and visitors.

In 2022, Landsec selected B|D Landscape Architects to develop proposals for the regeneration of Cardinal Place. Through an extensive engagement process involving input from diverse groups and stakeholders, including those who live, work, and frequent the area. From this in-depth research, the vision for the new public space emerged.

There was an extensive engagement process in parallel to the design process. To provide a significant new public realm, they engaged and relied on input from various groups and stakeholders who live, work, study and frequently use the space.

Maylim’s scope of work includes the introduction of urban greening to the busy courtyard space.  Existing paving will make way for raised and free-standing planters with incorporated seating, creating spaces for relaxation and socialising. The way-finding strategy features signage, interpretation, and gateways to improve navigation throughout the area. An innovative lighting scheme with amenities and feature lighting will enhance the space, with a bespoke chandelier taking centre stage. Maylim is also responsible for developing the RIBA Stage 4 and 5 design.

Work at Cardinal Place will begin in April, with completion expected in autumn 2024.
