Exchange Square Transformation is Complete at Broadgate London

Exchange Square Broadgate

Exchange Square is located at the heart of Broadgate, London’s largest pedestrianised neighbourhood. After commencing works in December 2020, Exchange Square is now complete and has been transformed into London’s newest green space.

Maylim was appointed by British Land as Principal Contractor for the 1.5-acre scheme. Undertaking full design responsibility, Maylim was responsible for the production of RIBA Stage 4, 5 and 6 information. DSDHA and Arup were appointed to progress technical information to enable construction.

Exchange Square combines Comblanchien Limestone and Terrazzo to create large paved areas and raised planters. The amphitheatre provides an abundance of seating areas and incorporates a cascading water feature. The project also includes a new retail unit with curved façade, blackened steel edge and green roof. The M&E scheme extended to incorporate lighting, speakers, CCTV, WiFi and a misting system.

Designed to enhance the emotional and physical wellbeing of those that work and live locally, Exchange Square now provides four times more green space. The expansive soft landscaping scheme features an exciting mix of planting and trees; encouraging biodiversity and providing a versatile and sustainable outdoor space for people to come together and enjoy.
