Maylim’s Mighty Climb: Conquering the Three Peaks for Macmillan.

On 12 August 2025, a team of 20 determined colleagues from Maylim laced up their boots, packed their grit, and set off on one of the UK’s toughest endurance feats, the National Three Peaks Challenge. In just 24 hours, they scaled the heights of Ben Nevis (4,409ft), Scafell Pike (3,209ft), and Snowdon (3,560ft), all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

This wasn’t just a physical challenge, it was a deeply personal mission. Led by Tom Taylor, the team climbed in memory of his sister Rachel Taylor, whose legacy inspired every step. With aching legs and full hearts, they raised over £40,000(and counting!) to help Macmillan continue its vital work for people affected by cancer across the UK.

“MacMillan supported my incredible sister, Rachel, through the toughest of times in her battle against cancer, and it’s a privilege being able to give a little back. This challenge is in celebration of Rachel; her courage, resilience and strength throughout her journey and life. Thank you to everyone who has donated, wished us luck, Maylim for making the whole thing possible, and also to all my colleagues for their time and commitment taking on the challenge. I know Rachel would be proud and cheering us on the whole way!” Tom Taylor, Senior Project Manager

Why It Mattered

Cancer touches every corner of our lives. Macmillan is there to meet people in those moments, with care, compassion, and practical support. The Maylim team’s fundraising helps ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Every donation fuels nurses, helplines, financial advice, and emotional support for families navigating the hardest times.

The Journey in Moments

From sunrise summits to windswept ridges, the team shared their journey through social posts that captured the spirit of the challenge:

  • “Snowdon conquered! Legs like jelly, hearts full. For Rachel, for Macmillan, for everyone who needs a little extra strength right now.”
  • “Ben Nevis was brutal—but we did it. One down, two to go. Let’s keep climbing.”
  • “Scafell Pike nearly broke us. But we held each other up. That’s what this is all about.”

Supporters flooded the JustGiving page with messages of encouragement:

“Well done all-seriously tough challenge for a great cause” “Congratulations to all those that braved the 3 Peaks challenge. Amazing charity!” “We would like to see before and after photos – blood sweat & tears expected – all the very best Maylim – you really set the standard for Corporate Social Responsibility – well done everyone.” Kent Stainless

The Impact

With over 230 donations and nearly £5,000 in Gift Aid, the team is closing in on their £35,000 target. Every pound raised is a tribute to resilience, teamwork, and the power of community.
