Investing in Specialist Lawn Care Training to Deliver Exceptional Standards
At Maylim Landscapes, maintaining high-quality lawns across our portfolio requires more than just the right equipment. It demands specialist knowledge, practical expertise, and a commitment to continual professional development.
With this in mind, members of our maintenance team recently took part in a dedicated lawn care training workshop delivered by renowned turf management specialists, Tim O’Hare Associates (TOHA).

Designed to enhance both knowledge and practical skills, the training combined classroom-based learning with hands-on demonstrations at Nine Elms, one of our flagship sites. The programme covered every aspect of professional lawn maintenance, from mowing best practice and turf nutrition to aeration, scarification, top dressing and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
The practical sessions gave the team the opportunity to apply this knowledge in a real-world environment, developing their understanding of equipment setup, identifying and rectifying mowing faults, applying fertilisers correctly, and learning techniques for lawn establishment and repair.
Senior Agronomist, Gareth Phillips from TOHA shared a wealth of expertise throughout the day, providing valuable insight into the principles that underpin healthy, resilient and visually impressive turf. There is nothing about lawns this man doesn’t know. The training was designed not only to build technical knowledge but also to promote safe and effective working practices, helping ensure consistent standards are maintained across Maylim’s prestigious landscape portfolio.
“Continually investing in specialist horticultural training such as this is a keystone of Maylim Landscapes values and Customer Service delivery for the long term benefit and enjoyment of all stakeholders,” says Maintenance Manager, Peter Gregory.
Beyond enhancing technical capabilities, investment in specialist training supports the long-term development of our people, creating opportunities for career progression while ensuring the landscapes we maintain continue to deliver environmental, wellbeing and community benefits.

The feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees particularly valuing the balance between classroom theory and practical participation. This combination of learning and hands-on experience helped bring key concepts to life and reinforced best practice techniques that can be applied across our sites.
Investing in specialist training is a key part of Maylim’s commitment to delivering excellence in landscape maintenance. By continually developing the skills and knowledge of our teams, we can ensure the landscapes we care for remain healthy, vibrant and enjoyable for our clients and their communities for years to come.
A huge thank you to Gareth and the team at Tim O’Hare Associates for delivering such an engaging and informative workshop. We look forward to continuing to apply these valuable insights across our portfolio.
