The Coal Office & Wharf Road Viaduct
In conjunction with Maylim’s work across the major redevelopment of King's Cross, we were contracted to complete the external works for the Wharf Road Viaduct.
Overview
The Wharf Road Viaduct curves alongside the Regents Canal towpath, overlooking the eagerly awaited Coal Drops Yard. Although the viaducts and Coal Office are unlisted Victorian structures, the renovation project has allowed for them to retain their original heritage and design.
Maylim were appointed to complete the hard landscaping and external works to the front of the buildings; running from the top of Granary Square through to The Gas Holder Triplets and Gas Holder Park. Across the 2,000m² area, our remit included the break out and reduced dig, drainage and ducting, forming planters and benches and installation of street furniture features including bollards and cycle stands.
As well as this, we procured and installed bespoke granite paving to match the style and design of the surrounding recently developed areas of King’s Cross.
