Battersea Power Station Opens its Doors to the Public
On Friday 14th October, Battersea Power Station opened its doors to the public for the first time. The highly-anticipated opening of the Grade II listed power station marks its resurrection almost 40 years after its closure.
The transformation of the iconic building and its surrounding areas has created an exciting mixed-use neighbourhood. The development is now home to over 4000 new places to live, as well as a range of leisure and retail units and beautifully landscaped parks and recreational areas.
Maylim has been a key contractor for the masterplan since 2015, bringing the power stations’ landscaped spaces to life. Phase one, Circus West Village, is defined by two areas – the public realm and the accompanying residential gardens.
The second phase of works involved the park areas directly surrounding the power station. Maylim worked closely with landscape architect LDA Design to bring the vision to life. The new riverfront park blends seamlessly with Circus West Village, thanks to the continuation of key features and planting schemes. The Maylim team continue to work on the development, recently commencing work on phase 3b.
