Bishops Square Public Realm Redevelopment

Located in the lively neighbourhood of Spitalfields, Bishops Square bridges the gap between the City and the East End. The original regeneration in 2005 introduced 1.6 hectares of open public space – larger than the Piazza at Covent Garden.

Designed by Foster + Partners, the new redevelopment of Bishops Square will enhance the initial scheme design. The space will diversify the public realm, helping to connect visitors and strengthen user experience. The scheme incorporates new seating areas and modernisation of the hard landscaping to improve accessibility. A considered soft landscaping scheme will be introduced, as well as infrastructure for in-ground pop-up power units and a bespoke lighting scheme.

Maylim has been appointed as Principal Contractor by JP Morgan Asset Management. The project team will deliver the works under a JCT Design and Build contract.

Works are set to commence in early September, with completion due in mid-December 2022.
