Early Works Begin at Western Yards for Multiplex
Western Yards is the first phase of Southwark’s Bankside Yards redevelopment scheme. The scheme is a joint venture by four developers; Native Land, Amcorp Properties Berhad, Hotel Properties Limited and Temasek. The masterplan created by PLP Architecture will redevelop a 1.4 million sq ft space between Blackfriars Bridge and Tate Modern along the South Bank of the River Thames.
The development, shortlisted in the New London Awards 2020, centres around a historic railway viaduct. Once complete, the mixed-use scheme will open up and reutilise the viaduct arches for cultural and retail amenities. Three acres of new public space, designed by Gillespies, will surround and extend the development.
Contracted by Multiplex, Maylim’s remit for the public realm includes paving build-ups, drainage, lighting, street furniture and s278 works. Our team will also complete the soft landscaping at Invicta Plaza, an area of the public realm which sits below the 19-storey Arbor tower.
Works are due to commence at the end of January 2022.
