The Tower
We were proud to be awarded the externals for the prestigious George Wharf Tower contract in 2014. This cutting-edge development is now the highest residential building in London and has become an iconic landmark on the London skyline.
Overview
The overarching design concept was to create an aesthetic that would work when viewed aerially from above. The paving banding, soft landscaping and water features are intended to mimic the spokes of a wheel with the tower representing the cog of the wheel.
The feature walls were a key design attribute and appear in various guises throughout the development; high walls of water covering granite-clad faces, set into large pools with bespoke spouts through granite weir walls and as bespoke glass rills lit from inside. Circular planters with granite copings and recessed lighting give the illusion that they are floating, adding to the spectacular landscaping.
The overall design is punctuated with soft landscaping features; high yew hedges provide subtle security and help to soften the lines of granite clad feature walls and the low-level planting consists of mature local flora.
