Maybury MUGA

We were delighted to be awarded the contract for the Multi Utility Games Area (MUGA) for the London Borough of Newham in 2012.

Overview

We worked with the client to develop the design through open value engineering exercises. This process that made sure the project stayed on budget and retained the client’s vision for the space. Originally a derelict waste land used for fly tipping and rubbish dumping, the site needed clearing in its entirety before building work could commence. We sub-contracted the removal of waste before carrying out the reduced dig.

Working in partnership with the borough’s design team, the project involved the construction of a multi utility games area with Kompan Football Basketball area, running track, open air gym as well as seating and public realm areas. A high security Fence with elements of soft landscaping surrounded the space.

The project was completed within its 12 week time frame and has provided an extremely positive transformation for the area, enhancing and brightening the landscape. Newham now boasts a multi-use recreational space beneficial to the local community and schools.
