Smashing Local Labour Targets at Pier Gardens, Cleethorpes
Eleven weeks into our work at Pier Gardens, progress is really taking shape. We couldn’t be prouder of how it’s going.
Pier Gardens is being regenerated for the future. The formal gardens are being changed to reflect modern use, and will include a small urban sports area, plenty of lawns and seating, a play area with water play, climbing structures and a learning area, and a reflective zone, which provides an area for relaxation and contemplation – seating set within naturalistic planting schemes providing year round interest – colour and smells.
Of our workforce – on-site ground workers, plant operators and traffic marshals – a remarkable 92% are local to the Cleethorpes area, surpassing the targets. That’s not just a number. It means real jobs, for local people, with the benefits of this project staying firmly within the community it serves.
It’s exactly the kind of impact we set out to make, and a result we’re genuinely pleased to shout about.
We’ll have more updates as the project develops. Watch this space.
