1 Triton Square

Working with Principal Contractor Lendlease, Maylim successfully delivered the public realm scheme at 1 Triton Square.

Overview

1 Triton Square is a pivotal phase within the Regent’s Place campus developed by British Land. The building itself is now one of the lowest carbon HQs in the UK, with 40,000 tonnes of carbon saved compared to a new-build workspace.

Maylim’s scope of works comprised the public realm external works for the surrounding perimeters of the BREEAM outstanding building, 1 Triton Square. This encompassed the removal of existing hard surfacing from the structural slab surrounding 1 Triton Square. This intricate process required vigilant monitoring of the podium slab’s load during the removal and replacement of the imposed load.

The transformation of the northern perimeter accommodated a blend of hard and soft landscape build-up. Expansive repairs to the structural slab and building upstands were executed, focusing on developing and implementing waterproofing details for added resilience.

The public realm is both functional and aesthetically pleasing through the landscape design and installation of street furniture. Hardwood timber benches with Corten steel bases, Corten and timber tables, pre-cast concrete benches, stainless-steel cycle stands, and water bottle refill stations were seamlessly integrated into the space.

Collaborating with Townshend Landscape Architects, Maylim selected Yorkshire boulders to create a relaxed play area north of the site. A rubber crumb surface was also added to ensure a safe and enjoyable space.

Corten planters and soft landscaping featuring an automated irrigation system, were strategically installed. The soft landscaping includes semi-mature trees, ornamental planting, mulch, and an automatic irrigation system, adding vibrance and encouraging biodiversity.

Having completed this transformative scheme in 2021, Maylim seamlessly transitioned to the project’s second phase – Regent’s Place Phase Two, this time taking on the role of Principal Contractor.
