5 Broadgate

As part of a broader masterplan, 5 Broadgate was seen as a key milestone for redevelopment within the City of London.

Overview

Designed by Make Architects, the 13-storey ‘groundscraper’ was completed in 2016 and is now home to the headquarters of global financial firm UBS. The scheme also included major public realm enhancements and landscaping, as well as new retail space along the recently developed Sun Street.

Maylim’s remit covered all civil engineering, concrete and associated drainage works to the perimeters of 5 Broadgate. Due to the central and busy location, it was vital that the planning of works was co-ordinated accordingly with local stakeholders including Network Rail, Corporation of London, Broadgate Estates, neighbouring banks and passing pedestrians. We sourced high quality paving from China, Switzerland and Italy for the external space that demanded in excess of 6000m2 of granite.

Our dedicated project team scheduled phased deliveries of large quantities and completed works around tight project timings. Bespoke street furniture as well as state of the art security furniture and bespoke bronze planters were installed across the site, bringing the external space to life.
