Paddington Central – Phase One

Maylim have completed the first phase of Paddington Central for client British Land.

Overview

Acting as Principal Contractor, Maylim were contracted to complete the hard and soft landscaping elements as well as the civils and groundworks for One Kingdom Street, located at the western end of the public realm. The external works were completed on behalf of Skanska Infrastructure Services, working for their sister company Skanska Construction UK.

Situated behind the main station within close proximity to the Sheldon Square Amphitheatre, we wanted to create an equally pleasing public space. High quality materials including Yorkstone paving and Swiss granite for the clad planters were selected. Our project team installed bespoke street furniture and sophisticated water features as well as an ambient lighting scheme to bring the scheme to life at night.

Throughout construction we co-ordinated our works with building and fit out trades. Due to the fact that the scheme is built on a suspended podium, all material movements to and from the working face had to be transported by crane lifts from the storage areas to the site above.
