Greenford Quay – Lyons Dock
Following the BALI awarding-winning delivery of Tillermans Court, Maylim was again appointed Principal Contractor by Greystar to deliver the external works surrounding Lyons Dock.
Overview
Greenford Quay is the UK’s first large-scale purpose-designed build-to-rent development. Lyons Dock is the newest part of the scheme, perched on the curve of the Grand Union canal. The landscape-led masterplan designed by HTA Design consists of 40% of public realm pockets. Lyons Dock provides additional green space, a children’s play area, and a new section of the canalside.
The key aspects of Maylim’s remit included the full design and build of the public realm scheme. The scope of works incorporated s278 works to the highway boundary, extensive civil and structural design and installation. Brick cladding to a reinforced concrete wall, a drainage scheme, and the construction of steps and ramps. Maylim installed site-wide external lighting, CCTV and data systems, with the addition of in-ground power units.
The hard landscape compliments the site-wide palette and earlier phases at Tillermans Court, with granite and resin-bound gravel used extensively throughout Lyons Dock. Site-wide furniture and a new play area add much-needed opportunities for rest, relaxation and physical activity. Over forty trees and 1,000m2 of biodiverse planting complete the scheme, introducing more greenery to the popular Greenford Quay development.
