RES Garden: A New Home for Biodiversity at Stratford Cross
Maylim is proud to have been part of the team relocating the Royal Entomological Society (RES) Insect Garden to its new home at Stratford Cross (formerly IQL).
This project aligns with Maylim’s larger portfolio of work in Stratford, which includes the recent completion of The Turing Building. Designed by award-winning garden designer Tom Massey, the RES Garden initially brought the wonders of insect science to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2023.
The Garden serves as a living example of how we can all create garden habitats supporting and encouraging insect life. It showcases how urban spaces—whether full-scale gardens, allotments, balconies or even window boxes—can become thriving habitats for various creatures.
Led by Lendlease, Maylim worked alongside the dedicated project team to meticulously reassemble this ecological haven in its new home. Among the garden’s key features are nectar-rich plants such as culver’s root, catmint, and hawthorn. These plants provide essential nectar sources for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, ensuring these insects can thrive.
The Insect Garden at Stratford Cross is open daily and free to visit. Located on Endeavour Square, the garden is accessible for wheelchair users and individuals with reduced mobility.
